Panthers Clean Sweep Sewanee to Close Regular Season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern softball team completed its series sweep over Sewanee with a pair of wins Sunday to close out the regular season and Southern Athletic Association play second in the league. BSC (25-13, 12-5 SAA) took game one 12-1 before walking away with the 16-5 game two win.  Both games were done in five innings.


Kolyn Kyser (Springville, Ala./Springville HS) led the Panthers offensively on the day.  She went 5-for-6, including a triple, five runs, and two RBI.  Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) and Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS) finished with four hits each.  And Abby Spencer (Auburn, Ala./Auburn HS) went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, four runs, and two RBI.


Three pitchers hit the mound for the Panthers.  Crumpton followed her perfect game performance by giving up just one hit in her time on the mound in game two.  She finished with a 0.00 ERA for the series.  Jessica Perley (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia HS) earned the game one win throwing a complete game and giving up just one run.


BSC now prepares for the SAA Tournament.  Play runs from April 20-22 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
