BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern softball team stunned No. 13 Berry College Saturday in a Southern Athletic Association doubleheader.  BSC (22-5) won game one 12-7 before taking game two 5-4 to improve to 6-2 in conference play.  The wins put them in a tie for first place in the league and extend their win streak to nine.

It was a slug fest on the Hilltop for the Panthers who sent four home runs over the fence.  Kolyn Kyser (Springville, Ala./Springville HS) led the offense going 4-for-6 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.  Kendell Hamm (Adamsville, Ala./Sumitron Christian HS) and Saydee Keith (Corner, Ala./Corner HS) finished with three hits each, respectively.  And Annie Clayton (Eufaula, Ala./Eufaula HS) and Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) each had two hits on the day.

Bailey Murphy (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) picked up the game one win.  She went 6.1 innings and allowed just one earned run from the 27 batters she faced.  Murphy also gave the Panthers their dramatic game two win with a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Jessica Perley (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia HS) earned the win in the circle.  She pitched a complete game allowing just three runs to improve to 6-3 on the year.
