SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept the Sewanee Tigers at a dual meet hosted by Sewanee on Friday afternoon.
The 19th-ranked men's swim and dive team defeated the Tigers 172-89 while the No. 24 BSC women won 160-128. Of the 32 total events, the Panthers won 21 of them.
BSC started and ended with sweeps in the relay events, taking the men's and women's 400-yard medley relay and the men's and women's 400-yard freestyle.
Individually, 14 different Panthers took first place in an event with sophomore Mary Katherine Stewart (Daphne, Ala./Daphne HS) and sophomore Chase Bolding (Panama City Beach, Fla./Wyoming) each winning two events.
Stewart won both the women's 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle with times of 2:01.86 and 58.14, respectively, while also competing on both first-place relay teams. Bolding took first place in 1-meter diving event with a score of 1693.95 and won the men's 200-yard breast stroke with a time of 2:15.41. He competed on both of BSC's victorious relay squads, as well.
Birmingham-Southern's next meet will be at home at the Birmingham Crossplex when West Florida and Montevallo come to town on Friday, Jan. 17.
