Panthers Open at Indoor Icebreaker

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – Birmingham-Southern track and field opened its indoor season by hosting the 2019 BSC Indoor Icebreaker Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Several Panthers had big days to start the year competing against teams from the NAIA and all three divisions of the NCAA.

Glen Humphrey (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) was the top Division III finisher in the 200m dash with a time of 23.22.  He was second among Division III runners in the 400m dash.  Maurice Sutherland (Meridian, Miss./Northeast HS) and William Wideman (Marietta, Ga./Pope HS) went 8-9 in the triple jump, beating out all other D3 jumpers and several D1 competitors.

On the women's side, Jannah Moede (Roswell, Ga./Centennial HS) was second among all D3 runners in the 200m dash, placing 47th out of 76.  Her time of 27.21 was a personal record, beating her previous time by nearly a second.  She was also BSC's top finisher in the 60m dash.

This is the Panthers only indoor meet before the New Year.  They return to action on January 10-11 for the UAB Blazer Invitational.  The meet will be held at the CrossPlex.
