BESSEMER, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's golf team placed ninth out of ten teams at its 2019 BSC Southern Showdown at Bent Brook Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
The Panthers ended both rounds of the tournament in ninth, shooting a 351 on Monday and 361 on Tuesday to wrap up the competition.
Individually, sophomore Alexis Chambers (Ft. Payne, Ala./Ft. Payne HS) led Birmingham-Southern in the tournament. Chambers shot a 75 on day one to finish the day tied for third, but the next day she dropped five shots to shoot an 80 and end the tournament tied for seventh place.
Junior Sarah Posey (Covington, Tenn./First Assembly Christian School) also finished inside the top 20, tying for 19th place. Posey shot rounds of 79 and 80 to end her tournament 15-over par.
Birmingham-Southern will compete in the Southern Athletic Association Championship tournament next. The championships will be at the Greystone Golf Course in Dickson, Tenn., April 25-28.
