Panthers Suffer First SAA Loss to No. 11 Centre

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team fell to No. 11 Centre 3-0 on Friday night, delivering the Panthers their first conference loss of the season.

The Colonels, who took 33 shots, put continued pressure on the Panther defense all game, forcing junior goalkeeper Blakley Jones (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Holy Spirit Catholic HS) into 15 saves.

The visitors scored two goals in the first half and added one more in the second half to secure the 3-0 victory.

BSC had seven shots in the game with three shots on goal. Centre outgained BSC in corner kicks 11-2.

The loss drops Birmingham-Southern to 8-4-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Panthers will celebrate Senior Day and play their final regular season home game against Sewanee on Sunday, Oct. 20 at noon.
