MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball team closed out its conference season with a 3-2 win over Rhodes College Sunday afternoon. BSC (19-5) claimed sole possession of the 2019 Southern Athletic Association regular season crown with the win. The Panthers will host the tournament November 8-10 after posting 13-1 conference record.
Four finished with double-digits in kills, led by Alyssa Coats (Nolensville, Tenn./Nolensville HS) with 13. Julia Denby (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) and Milea Ray (Alabaster, Ala./Pensacola State) earned 12 kills each. And Rebecca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) had 10 of her own, respectively. Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) finished with a match-high 31 assists.
Ray earned a double-double on the day by also picking up 12 digs. Caroline Johnson (Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy HS) led defensively with a team-high 14 digs.
BSC will finish the regular season on the road at the Emory Invitational November 1-2. First match is Friday at 3 p.m. against Wittenberg University.
