Dyer Carlisle became a full-time member of theBirmingham-Southern Football Coaching staff in March of 2008 afterserving the 2007 season as a volunteer assistant coach in charge ofthe secondary.

Carlisle brings over 25 years of coaching experience at thecollege and high school levels to the Panther staff. He last servedas Head Coach for Austin High School in Decatur, Ala., where hespent from 1989 to 1994 as the school's head coach before goinginto education administration.

Prior to AHS, Carlisle worked in the college ranks for 11seasons. He coached the secondary and was the defensive coordinatorat Mississippi State from 1987-88 and coached the secondary atSouthern Miss from 1982-86. He began his time in the college ranksas a graduate assistant at Jacksonville State in 1978 before takingover the secondary from 1979-81. He has also had coaching stints atBanks, Haleyville and West End High Schools from 1971-1978, servingas baseball and football head coach at Banks from 1975-78.

Carlisle graduated from Samford in 1971 with a B.S. in Health,Physical Education and Recreation. He went on to receive hisMaster's from Jacksonville State in 1981 and his E.D.S. fromMontevallo in 1998.

He is married to the former Ronda Rush of Vestavia Hills, Ala.The couple has two sons, Andrew and Taylor.
