After serving six seasons as assistant coach, Rena Holden wasnamed head coach for the Birmingham-Southern women's basketballteam on March 7, 2013.
Over the past two season, Faust-Holden has helped lead BSC to arecord of 28-22, with wins against Emory, East Texas Baptist,Huntingdon, Maryville, and conference power DePauw.
In its first Division III season in 2007-08, Faust-Holden helpedguide the Panthers to an impressive 18-7 record with wins overteams such as Louisiana College, Judson College, Spring HillCollege, and Emory University, as well as McMurry University andMaryville College to win the Maryville Thanksgiving Classic.
In its first season as a member of the Southern CollegiateAthletic Conference, BSC defeated every team in the conference atleast once, including a 71-58 home victory over No. 11 DePauwUniversity, the 2007 Division III National Champion.
In 2006-07, Faust-Holden helped the Panthers to wins overSouthern Mississippi as well as Big South Conference rivalsCharleston Southern and Winthrop. Two Panthers earned post-seasonhonors as junior Reba Ross landed a spot on the Big South FirstTeam and the Academic All-Conference team, and Marisah Hendersonearned All-Freshman honors.
Prior to that, Faust-Holden helped guide the 2005-06 team to a12-16 mark and helped coach three All-Big South Conference playersin Stacey Anthony (Second Team), Ashley Thornton (All-Freshman),and Reba Ross (Academic All-Conference).
Faust-Holden joined the Panthers after two years as an assistantfor the women's basketball team at the University of Arkansas.
Prior to her stint at Arkansas, Faust-Holden served as anassistant coach at West Georgia for seven years. She also filledthe role of senior women's administrator from 2002 to 2003. From1995 to 1996, Faust-Holden was a student assistant coach for thewomen's team at Southeastern Louisiana, where she received herBachelor of Arts in health promotion and fitness and physicaleducation in 1996. In 2009 she received her Master's in EducationLeadership from Atlantic International University.
Faust-Holden is a 2007 Hall of Fame inductee at Cedar ShoalsHigh School in Athens, Ga.
She and her husband, Elmer Holden, have a son, MaKale DeShun,born in Feburary 2007.
