Rudy Griffin begins his first season as Birmingham-Southern'sdefensive line coach after being hired in January 2014.

Griffin comes to BSC after a season at Navarro College inCorsicana, Texas, where he was Defensive Line and Strength andConditioning Coach. Prior to that he was Linebacker Coach andRecruiting Coordinator at Idaho State University in Pocatello,Idaho, from 2011-2012. From 2010-2011, Griffin was at WashingtonState University in Pullman, Wash., where he worked in FootballQuality Control and was the Assistant Recruiting Coordinator.

Griffin was a starting defensive tackle for the University ofAlabama from 2003-2006, where he earned his B.S. in HumanPerformance. At Alabama he was a captain for the 2006 Cotton Bowland a member of the 2005 Southeastern Conference Academic HonorRoll.

Griffin also has high school coaching experience under his belt.He taught and was the Defensive Coordinator at Demopolis HighSchool in Demopolis, Ala., from 2008-2010, helping DHS win the 20095A state title. Griffin also taught and coached at Worth CountyHigh School in Sylvester, Ga., from 2007-2008, and was a volunteercoach for Holy Spirit High School in Tuscaloosa, Ala., in 2005.Prior to his tenure at Worth County and after graduating fromAlabama, he was Defensive Line Coach and Strength and ConditioningCoach at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D.

Griffin also played at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., from2001-2003, where he was a two-year starter and Dean's List member,before transferring to Alabama.

Griffin is a native of Hepzibah, Ga., where he played forHepzibah High School.
