BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern football team dropped its first Southern Athletic Association game Saturday 34-24 to Hendrix College in Krulak Stadium. It was Pediatric Cancer Awareness Day on the Hilltop and the BSC football team raised over $2,000 for Children's of Alabama.
The offensive line still has not given up a single sack this year. Behind their stellar play, BSC's ground game has been explosive this season. Robert Shufford (McKenzie, Ala./McKenzie HS) collected his third consecutive 100+ yard game. He finished with 160 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Justin Robertson (McDonough, Ga./Eagles Landing HS) earned two touchdowns of his own off 94 yards.
Garrett Stevens (Social Circle, Ga./Eastside HS) and Myles Myers (Alpharetta, Ga./Johns Creek HS) led the defense. Each collected a team-high six tackles. Four of Myers' tackles were solo and one was for a loss. Cameron DeArman (Russellville, Ala./Russellville HS) finished right behind them with five tackles, three solo.
The Panthers have a bye next week. They then travel to Memphis, Tenn. to take on Rhodes College on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.
