BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern athletics saw 144 winter and spring student-athletes earn Southern Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll. In order to earn the honor, student-athletes must have maintained a 3.25 cumulative grade point average this fall while competing in the championship season for their respective sport.
Five teams saw more than two-thirds of their rosters garner the honor. At 100 percent, women's tennis led the pack, followed by women's swimming and diving at 89 percent of its roster recognized. Women's swimming and diving held the highest team GPA for the semester at 3.71. Men's tennis (3.69), men's golf (3.49), women's track and field (3.46), baseball (3.41), and women's basketball (3.41) round out the top five team GPA's for the spring. Baseball had the most honorees at 27.
Of the 144 recognized by the SAA, 104 also earned Dean's List honors as well for their work in the classroom.
