BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's swimming and diving team upset NCAA Division II opponent University of Montevallo Saturday. BSC won eight events en route to the 129-57 rout of the Falcons.
The Panthers were paced by
Mary Katherine Stewart (Daphne, Ala./Daphne HS) and
Jocelyn Helsby (Woodstock, Ga./Woodstock HS). The pair were on the winning 400 medley and 400 free relays. Helsby also won the 50 free and Stewart took the 500 free to finish with three
Regan Skedgell (Powder Springs, Ga./Hillgrove, HS), who was on the winning 400 free relay, took first in the 100 free with a time of 57.16. Also on the 400 free was
Anna Jordan Luth (Pensacola, Fla./Booker T. Washington HS).
Mary Miller Goldberg (Memphis, Tenn./St. George's Independent School) rounded out the Panthers on the 400 medley relay.
Marry Beth Ronne (Athens, Tenn./McMinn County HS) won the 200 free in 2:04.74 and
Nikki Lee (Neoga, Ill./Neoga HS) won the 100 back 1:05.60.
BSC travels to Berry College next. The Panthers head to Rome, Ga. For two days of competition on Friday, Jan. 15.
