SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team dropped three sets to the Sewanee Tigers.
Kennedy Dickens led the team with 10 kills and 2 total blocks.
The first set was a fight between the Panthers and Tigers, trading points back and forth with Sewanee leading 11-10. The Tigers jumped ahead to a 17-11 lead but back to back kills from
Kennedy Dickens made it 17-13. The fight continued on with a close set at 23-22, but the Tigers eventually won the set 25-23.
The Tigers jumped out to a large early lead at 16-4 in the second set.
Taylor Bentley was able to get a kill and shift things in favor for the Panthers,
Ansleigh Dailey also threw an ace in there. A kill from
Gigi Fields and back to back kills from
Emily Buhl lessened up the lead making it 18-11 Tigers. The Tigers pushed back and were at set point 24-12. The Panthers held them at set point twice before they ultimately fell 25-14.
The third set started off as a close set. The set was tied at 11-11, then the Tigers took the lead 13-12 before going on a five point run to take the lead 18-12. The Panthers were able to gain five more points on the Tigers but could not finish it out and fell in the last set 25-17.
