The first set started off with kills from
Gigi Fields and
Leah Nielsen to give the Panthers an early 2-0 lead. Two errors from Centre and back to back service aces from
Kate Powell pushed the Panthers to 6-2.
Kennedy Dickens lead the next run with a kill and later an ace to give Birmingham-Southern a good 13-7 lead.
Gigi Fields and
Alyssa Coats wanted to add to the momentum, Fields contributing two kills and Coats putting up three aces in the 7 point run. This helped boost the Panthers to a massive 22-9 lead over the Colonels. A kill from
Rominey Willner gave Birmingham-Southern set point, but the Panthers could not finish, letting the Colonels get two more points on them before taking the set 25-14.
The Panthers started off the second set with a comfortable 7-1 lead over Centre. Some errors from Birmingham-Southern gave Centre a little momentum to make it 10-7. Trading points back and forth, Centre put up a fight but the Panthers were able to keep their lead 20-14.
Kennedy Dickens and
Gigi Fields gave Birmingham-Southern a good push to the end making it 23-15. A service error from Centre gave the Panthers set point and the Colonels held them to one more before a kill from
Alyssa Coats ended the second set 25-17.
Birmingham-Southern took the lead in the third set like the previous sets had gone. The Panthers were leading 9-4 before Centre took the lead for the first time all match, going on an 8 point run to make it 12-9. A service error ended their streak and a service ace from
Kennedy Dickens helped close up the lead on the Colonels 12-11. Centre continued to lead the set 21-19, before back to back kills from
Kennedy Dickens and an ace from
Abby Dunford switched the momentum and gave the Panthers set point 24-21. Once again, Centre was able to take one last point from the Panthers before Birmingham-Southern took the set 25-22.
