BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team lost 3-1 against the Hendrix Warriors.
Gigi Fields led the team with 13 kills with a .345 hitting percentage.
The Warriors were able to jump ahead in the first set 7-2. They continued their lead over the Panthers to hold it at 15-7. Finishing off the first set, the Warriors took it 25-12.
The Panthers took the lead in the second set at 9-5. The Warriors were able to tie it back up at 12-12. The two teams traded points back and forth, with the Panthers in the lead 19-16, until Hendrix tied it at 20-20 once again. Back to back kills for
Kennedy Dickens gave the Panthers set point at 24-23. Once again the Warriors, tied it up but the Panthers were able to finish it out and take set two 26-24.
The third set started off tied at 7-7. The Panthers went to take the lead at 14-13, but the Warriors fought back and took the lead 20-15. Birmingham-Southern tightened the gap and were only down by two at 21-19. The Panthers were able to hold the Warriors at set point once before they fell 25-21.
The Panthers started the fourth set with a 6-3 lead over the Warriors before falling it got tied up at 8-8. Hendrix pushed even harder and took the lead at 15-12. The Panthers fought hard to keep the set close but closing the lead at 18-17 and again at 23-22. Birmingham-Southern ultimately fell in set four at 25-22.
