TURNOVERS PROVE COSTLY AGAINST SCOTS

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Panthers turned the ball over 21 times in their 66-57 loss to No. 23 Maryville. 12 of their 21 turnovers came in the second half where they were outscored 39-24. 

The game started back-and-forth with three ties and two lead changes in the first 15 minutes of play. The Panthers lead by as much as seven in the first half with a 26-19 lead. The Scots made a push late but the Panthers kept responding and took a six-point lead into halftime. 

At the half Josh Childers led all Birmingham-Southern scorers with eight points, following him was Christian Stewart with 7. The Panthers also go 19 of their 33 points from the bench.

Birmingham-Southern opened up the second half with a five straight points to extend their lead to 11 with just under 18 minutes left in the second half. The Scots did not back down and proceeded to go on an 11-0 run and tie the Panthers at 38-38.

Birmingham-Southern regained the lead and kept it for most of the second half. The Scots pulled away late as they went on a 19-2 run to close the game and defeat the Panthers. Turnovers and fouls hurt BSC down the stretch and restulted in their first loss of the season.
