DECATUR, Ga. - After three straight losses Birmingham-Southern got back on the right track defeating Agnes Scott 8-0. The Panthers were propelled by
Abby Walker and
Abby Rose Branham who each recorded two goals in the game.
The Panthers got out to an early lead after
Abby Walker netted her first goal of the game (third of the season) from a shot just outside the 18-yard box. Up until the next goal Walker was the only Panther to score a goal in the 2021 season.
Abby Rose Branham found the back of the net in the 28th minute, scoring her first goal of the season. Branham took a shot from well outside the box and beat the keeper to the low left side of the net. The goal put the Panthers up 2-0. BSC would hold that lead until halftime allowing Agnes Scott to get off a single shot on goal.
After half Birmingham-Southern turned it up a notch as they recorded six goals in the second half.
Camryn Lampron got on the score sheet in the 52nd minute. Lampron, like Branham was able to beat the keeper to the low-left side of the goal. Less than three minutes after the Lampron goal
Sophie Smith joined the scoring with a goal. Smith beat the keeper to the low-right side of the net.
The Panthers took a 5-0 lead after
Ansley Hicks was fouled inside the box and was awarded a penalty kick. Hicks successfully completed the penalty kick as she beat the keeper to the low-left side of the goal.
In the 79th minute
Ally Bridwell recorded her third point of the game after scoring a her first goal of the season. Bridwell also assisted on the Smith goal. The goal put BSC in complete control up 6-0.
Branham and Walker recorded the next two goals each finishing the game with two goals a piece. The Panthers took the game 8-0.
