Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

PANTHERS HANG ON DOWN THE STRETCH

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Panthers led by as much as 14 points with under 13 minutes to go in the second half, but Rhodes fought their way back and would cut the lead to six. The Panthers were able to hang tough and fight off the Lynx for another conference victory.

The first half started rather slow for both teams not hitting a shot until over two minutes of game time had passed. After the early drought both offenses found their rhythm and would trade leads for the early part of the first half. The Panthers quickly pulled away after a 13-4 run in the middle part of the first half, giving them a 10-point lead. Cameron Glover and Randall Davis led the way combining for 10 points (Glover 6 and Davis 4). The Lynx found themselves back in the game in the final seconds of the first half pulling to within four-points. Christian Stewart hit a free-throw after getting fouled after, and BSC took a five-point lead to the locker room.

The Panthers came out of halftime scorching the net hitting four of their first five shots. Rhodes was equally as impressive, but the Panthers still managed to extend their lead to 12-points. The Panthers maintained the lead for the majority of the second half. The Lynx inched their way back into the game but Stewart would take over, scoring 14 of his 19 points in the second half. He was also a monster on the boards grabbing 16.

The Lynx made it interesting down the stretch pulling within seven, but Birmingham-Southern held them off and defeated Rhodes 77-70 for a conference weekend Sweep.
