Atlanta, Ga. – The Birmingham Southern women's basketball team continued their away game week taking on Oglethorpe. After losing to Berry on Friday, the Panthers answered back beating the Petrels with a final score of 97-89.
Cassady Quintana had a career high in points in today's game. Quintana dropped 26 points beating her old record of 19 against Mississippi University for Women on November 20,2021. She added on seven rebounds and four steals.
Both teams started off hot putting up 20 plus points in the first quarter. The Panthers led the quarter 24-23. BSC kept that energy going in the second quarter out scoring Oglethorpe 26-22 to lead going into halftime with a score of 50-45. Southern came into the third quarter with first half momentum dropping another 20 plus points. Oglethorpe tried to come back in the fourth quarter, but BSC held them off to get the victory.
McKenna Buckner recorded 12 points, three assist, three steals, and two rebounds.
Brooke Westhoelter and Ann Beth Giles both put up 10 points for the Panthers. Giles added on six assist, four rebounds, and three steals.
