Birmingham, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team returned home taking on the Colonels of Centre College. The Panthers put on a battle throughout the game but fell short by four points at the end with a final score of 93-89. BSC had a couple of standout performances against Centre.
BSC started off hot outscoring Centre 25-21 in the first quarter. Centre found a little momentum going into the second quarter scoring 17 points on BSC. Panthers held onto the lead going into halftime with a score of 40-38. Both teams came into the third quarter with energy putting up 20+ points each. Centre took the lead in the third quarter outscoring BSC by two points. Panthers tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter by putting up 23 points but were unable and fell to Centre by four points.
Brooke Westhoelter led the Panthers in points putting up 16 for the team. Westhoelter added on four rebounds, one assist, and block.
McKenna Buckner scored 12 points and added on four rebounds, three assist, and two steals.
