BSC OVERTAKEN BY CENTRE IN THE FINAL MINUTES

BSC OVERTAKEN BY CENTRE IN THE FINAL MINUTES

DANVILLE, Ky.  – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team were unable to match the second half offense of Centre resulting in a narrow defeat.

In the beginning, the match appeared to be fairly even with both teams getting the ball moving on offense and sending shots. However, it would be the Panthers who gained the upper hand early, finally connecting on a shot from Pirmin Blattmann set up by Trey Kirksey.

The Panthers looked to extend their lead, firing off a few more quick shots. Unfortunately, the Colonels would strike before any more Panther goals could be scored, bringing the match to a draw. The Panthers dominated the ball for the remainder of the half but were unable jump ahead on the scoreboard.

A different story came to be in the second as the Colonels showed a sense of urgency to score as quickly as possible. The Panthers defense held up well, preventing the bulk of scoring with Giacomo Magrini holding down the goal and totaling seven saves for the half.

This would culminate with the Colonels sneaking in a second goal, giving them the advantage for the match. Down the stretch, the Panthers saw several scoring opportunities, but none would come to be as time wound down.
