BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team was stifled by a swarming Rhodes squad.
The match got off to a bumpy start for the Panthers when the Lynx launched a long-distance bomb early on in the half. This brought out a sense of urgency in the Panthers who responded by taking control as well as a few shots.
That control was abruptly taken away when an untimely yellow card set up the Lynx to score again stretching the lead to two. The Panthers would have the opportunity to respond before the end of the half, but could not connect before time expired.
The second half lead to more of the same with the Panthers working the ball well, but the Lynx striking precisely. They quickly scored twice more to further secure the lead.
Down the stretch, the Panthers gave an all-out effort to stop the deficit from growing and to get on the scoreboard. The former was more successful while the latter proved to be a tall task.
