Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

PANTHERS SUFFER FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team took on #5 Trinity in their first game of the Richard Dardenne Memorial Classic. The Panthers fought hard but were outpaced by an overwhelming Tigers' offense with a final score of 87-140.

The first quarter showed promise for the Panthers as they briefly held a lead and kept close behind for the remainder ending the quarter at 28-38. Things got messy in the second quarter where a nonstop stream of fouls prevented BSC from gaining any momentum and lead to being outscored by 18 points for the quarter. The Panthers appeared energized coming out of the break, but the deficit was already too large to truly cut into. Three point shooting picked up in the second half giving the Panthers some hope, but in the end, they were simply outmatched.

Sameera Elmasri led the Panthers scoring with 21 points to go along with six rebounds, two steals and a block. Another key contributor was Montana Harris putting in 18 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.
