BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team claimed victory over Bob Jones University to finish out the Richard Dardenne Memorial Classic. The Panthers held control nearly the entire contest finishing with a score of 118-81.
The Panthers got on the board first with a three-pointer and did not look back. Some stifling defense and an aggressive game plan allowed for a 32-15 lead through the first quarter. It was more of the same in the second, with the addition of an impressive three-point shooting display.
Offense slowed slightly down going into the second half for the Panthers. However, they were still able to score 20+ in the third and fourth quarters. The Bruins put on an impressive performance to close out the game, but a 48 point deficit going into the fourth was simply too much to overcome.
The leading scorer for the Panthers was McKenna Buckner with 18. She also contributed significantly on the defensive end, nabbing four steals. Faith Anderson was not far behind her scoring 16 points and collecting two steals.
