HOUSTON, Texas – The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team took on St. Thomas University to kick off the UST Houston Tournament. A poor shooting performance resulted in the Panthers' lowest scoring game of the season, falling by a score of 68-84.
The Panthers were met with some serious opposition from the tip being held to under 10 points through half of the first quarter, a far cry from the Panthers' typically hot starts. However, they looked to be back on track in the second. BSC was able to limit the Celts opportunities grabbing seven steals and 15 rebounds which helped them to battle back and end that half with the lead at 41-40.
A back-and-forth battle early in the third quarter kept things interesting, but the Celts heated up late to give them significant momentum going into the final quarter up by 12. They would take this lead and run with it to go along with limiting the Panthers to just 12 points to close out the game.
Faith Anderson and
Summer Killin lead BSC in scoring, each with 12. Anderson also put in work on the defensive end snagging four steals. Killin collected the bulk of her scoring at the free throw line going a perfect 8-8.
