PANTHERS HIT TRIPLE DIGITS IN OPENING GAME

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After leading the nation in scoring the last two seasons, the Panthers were right back on track putting up 124 points in the opening game of the 2022-23 season. 

The teams played a back and forth for most of the first quarter, but it was BSC that started to pull away late in the period. The Panthers went on a 21-2 run to end the quarter a lead 36-17 after one quarter. The Panthers continued their hot shooting into the second quarter, scoring the first eight points out of the break. The eight points were scored by four different scorers. Throughout the second quarter the Panthers grew their lead to 40 points before halftime and were in complete control of the game.

In the third quarter it was more of the same for the Panthers, they grew their lead to by as much as 50 before the end of the third quarter. Through three quarters the Panthers had put up 95 points. 

Within the first minute of the fourth quarter the Panthers had surpassed 100 points. BSC went on to win the game 124-70. The Panthers were led by McKenna Buckner who put up 20 points, and Brooke Westhoelter who dropped 18.
