CONWAY, Ark. - The Panthers traveled north to take on Hendrix in a pivotal game in the SAA standings. BSC fell 84-70 and now sit in fourth place in the standings.
The Panthers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead getting baskets from
Christian Stewart and
Cameron Glover. BSC kept the lead for the first seven minutes and then Hendrix found their rhythm on the offensive end. The Warriors took the lead with 13:40 remaining in the half, but it would not be for long as Stewart hit a jumper to take the lead back. The teams traded baskets and leads until about the five minute mark. Hendrix began to pull away extending their lead to seven, and then by as much as 14. The Panthers got a basket just before half to cut the lead to 12 points.
The Warriors maintained that double-digit lead for the majority of the second half. Each time the Panthers tried to cut into the deficit, Hendrix had a response and would not allow the Panthers to get the lead down to a two possession game. The closest BSC got to Hendrix was eight points. The Panthers dropped their second game of the week.
SAA Tournament Implications
The Panthers currently sit in fourth place in the SAA standings and in a position to host. If the Panthers win their game against Rhodes on Sunday they will host the first round of the SAA Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 20. If they lose and Centre wins, BSC will fall to fifth, which takes them out of hosting the first round. If both Centre and BSC lose BSC will hold their position and host the first round game.
