ROME, Ga. - The Panthers hung tough with the top seeded Vikings for most of the game but could not overcome a couple of late runs to upset Berry.
The first half was a battle, no team would lead by more than two possessions the entire 20 minutes. Neither team found their stroke from behind the arc combining for just three made three-pointers in the half. Most of the points were scored in the paint with BSC scored 18 of their 30 first half points in the paint. The Panthers held the Vikings to just one three pointer and 14% shooting from deep in the first half.
Birmingham-Southern was able to stay within striking distance for most of the second half but a a 9-2 run with 6:33 left gave the Vikings a 12-point lead that they were unable to overcome. Berry then closed the game on a 12-4 run to run away with the game. The Panthers could not find the bottom of the net in the second half shooting 28% from the field and 22% from three-point range.
BSC fell 77-58 in the semifinal round of the SAA Tournament.
