BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team were hoping to grab a victory at home after a tough weekend on the road.
The Panthers took only one of the doubles matches, putting them behind early on. No.
Maddi Stewart and
Phoebe Shapard took Berry's No. 1 duo 8-5, to secure the only win for the Panthers in doubles play. No. 2
Jenna Prater and
Sarah Rushing fell 8-4 and No. 3
Isabella Lambert and
Anna Cate Weeks fell 8-3 to Berry's doubles.
Birmingham-Southern looked to make a comeback in singles play against Berry. No. 4
Sarah Rushing was the only Panther to grab a victory in singles play, taking her opponent to a tiebreaker set. Rushing fell in the first set 6-2, then came back in the second to take it 6-4, before finishing it off 10-5 in the tiebreaker. All other doubles matches lost to their opponents in straight sets. BSC ultimately fell to Berry, 7-2.
