BSC SEES SEASON COME TO CLOSE IN SEMIFINAL ROUND

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - After defeating Berry 19-10 in the quarterfinal round of the SAA Tournament the Panthers went on to face top-seeded Rhodes. The Panthers were stopped in their tracks there falling to Rhodes 26-3.

Quarterfinal game
Birmingham-Southern opened up the game scoring the first two goals, before the Vikings came back to tie it up 2-2 with 4:34 remaining in the first quarter. Kendal Vick regained the lead for the Panthers before the period ended giving them momentum into the second quarter. 

BSC scored the first five goals of the second period en route to outscoring Berry 7-3 in the quarter. The Panthers led 8-3 before the Vikings fought back to cut the BSC lead to 8-5. Thanks to Marissa Henderson and Kathleen Napier the Panthers got those two goals back and went into halftime leading 10-5. 

The second half was all Birmingham-Southern as they outscored the Vikings in each of the third and fourth quarters. BSC and Berry traded goals for most of the third quarter before BSC pulled away with two late goals from Brooklyn Hilliard and Liz Lee. The fourth quarter was much of the same for Birmingham-Southern continuing to score and extend their lead over the Vikings. BSC won the game and advanced to the semifinal round defeating conference foe, Berry 19-10.

Semifinal game
Coming off a big victory against their conference rival, Birmingham-Southern took on top-seeded Rhodes in the semifinal round of the SAA Tournament. 

Rhodes took an early lead scoring just over a minute into the game and from there, took off. They proceeded to score 19 unanswered goals before BSC got on the board. About half way through the third quarter Lizzie LaVangie scored to put the Panthers on the board.

Rhodes then rattled off five more goals before BSC scored again, this time from Liz Lee. The Panthers scored once more before the game ended but feel 26-3. 

News and notes
> The last time Marissa Henderson did not record a goal in a game was March 5, 2022 against Rhodes.
> The last time a Panther scored 65 or more goals in a season was 2019. 
> This is the second year in a row that BSC was knocked out in the semifinal round.
