Danville, Ky. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team took on Sewanee in the semifinals of the SAA Tournament. After having a great regular season going 12-3 overall and 5-1 in conference, the Panthers season comes to an end in overtime.
Cameron Herd and
Caden Buckner started the game off scoring the first two goals of the game. The Tigers answered back scoring four goals in a row taking the lead 4-2. Herd added one more goal for the Panthers to make it a one goal game at the end of the first quarter. Sewanee started the second quarter off scoring four more goals.
Reid Harrison and
Kris Knisely put the Panthers on the board scoring one goal apiece. BSC trailed Sewanee 8-5 going into halftime.
The Panthers came into the second half looking to make an adjustment to take the lead. Sewanee scored the first goal of the quarter, but BSC answered scoring five goals to give them a 10-9 lead in the third quarter. Sewanee scored the last goal in the quarter to tie the game 10-10. Fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle. The Tigers scored the first goal, but
Austin Johnson answered back with the assist from
Carter McAlpin. Sewanee would go on to score three more goals. BSC refused to give-up that easy and scored three goals of their own to send the game into OT. The Panthers would go on to lose in overtime with a final score of 16-15.
