MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team wrapped up a three sport travel day for BSC in Montgomery with a 5-2 win over the Hawks. The Panthers scored five goals from five different goal scorers in the contest.
The season scoring got started quickly after
Patrick Gleason found the back of the net in the opening minute of the game. The goal was assisted by
Pirmin Blattmann off a corner kick. The Panthers continued to bring pressure on the offensive end of the field creating many chances but not converting.
In the midpoint of the first half Huntingdon found the back of the net to tie it up at one a piece. Less than three minutes after the goal BSC regained the lead with a goal by
Coleman Jennings giving the Panthers all the momentum they need. Just four minutes after the Jennings goal
Caleb Pruett extended the Panther lead to 3-1.
Just before the half was near over, Birmingham-Southern penalized Huntingdon in the penalty box, giving them a penalty kick. The Hawks converted on the PK and cut into the BSC 3-2 just before halftime.
Birmingham-Southern would get the PK goal back, with a PK of their own in the 51st minute.
Trey Hines netted a goal to put the Panthers back up two. Just eight minutes later
Christian Hernandez joined the scoring party, with his first goal of the season putting the game out of reach for the Hawks.
Giacomo Magrini and
Jack Hunt capped off a second half clean sheet for the Panthers.
