ROME, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team was able to handle the Pioneers with ease walking away with a comfortable win.
The Panthers started off hot with
Coleman Jennings scoring off of an assist from
Patrick Kelly early in the half. Just two minutes later,
Will Pucek was able to draw a foul setting up
Trey Hines for a penalty kick goal.
The offense did not stop there. With the Panthers on the attack,
Matt Dale won a tackle to help get
Alessandro Jr. in position for a rocket of a goal from just outside the penalty box.
The Panthers continued to hold possession, and a long-distance assist from
Pirmin Blattmann set up
Coleman Jennings for his second goal of the match. This goal pushed Jennings into the number one spot on the SAA All-Time Points list, just one game after becoming the All-Time Leader in Assists.
A Pioneer goal was scored off of a penalty kick to cut the lead down to three, but that would not last for long.
Sean Meehan broke past the defenders and get the ball to
Kenneth Toledo bringing the lead back to four.
Scoring slowed down in the second half for a more defensive match. The Pioneers snuck in another goal early in the half, but it would be their last. To round out the Panthers win,
Pirmin Blattmann used his second assist for
Trey Hines to net another goal and lock in a brace for the match.
