BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team was able to win out in a back-and-forth contest with LaGrange.
BSC began the first half slowly, trying to get the ball moving and their offense going, but LaGrange looked to disrupt this plan. Attacking hard, LaGrange was able to draw a foul leading to a penalty kick goal very early in the match. They stretched the lead further with another goal as the half was winding down.
This lead did not last long with BSC answering back within the minute. A perfectly placed pass from
Sean Meehan set up
Will Pucek to cut the deficit to one. The momentum was shifting, but time expired before BSC could even the score.
Halftime proved to keep the energy alive with BSC coming out on a mission to score. An onslaught of shots led to two scores from
Coleman Jennings and the lead. Jennings netted a header from
Alessandro Jr.'s pass and his second goal off of a corner kick from
Pirmin Blattmann.
LaGrange did not back down after losing their lead, bring the match to another tie by the halfway mark of the period. However, BSC quickly responded with another goal from
Coleman Jennings from another corner kick, this time taken by
Trey Hines. Efforts to answer back were frantic from LaGrange, but were futile in the end.
With his hat trick for the match,
Coleman Jennings continued his historic season by breaking his third SAA record in three games. He now stands alone as the All-Time Goals leader for the conference.
