PANTHERS COLLECT FIRST CONFERENCE WIN

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team outscored Oglethorpe University in all four quarters to win their first conference contest in the 2022-23 season, 83-67.

An early 8-0 run by Oglethorpe gave them the momentum early in the game. The Stormy Petrels carried the lead for the majority of the first quarter, but BSC would hit four of their final four shots to gain the lead and keep it for the remainder of the game. BSC opened up the second quarter with an 8-2 run taking a 28-21 lead and playing stifling defense. The Panthers shot 54.55-percent from three in the second quarter to extend their lead. BSC's defense continued to put pressure on Oglethorpe and held the lead.

Brooke Westhoelter, Lilly Hart and Summer Killin combined for 46 of Birmingham-Southern's 83 points with Westhoelter recording sixth double-figure game of the season. Hart went 4-of-8 from distance to record a season-high in three-pointers made as she added seven rebounds and an assist tot the night. Killin tied her career-high with 12 points and set a new career-record for minutes played with 18. The junior also added one rebound, one block, one steal, and one assist in the contest.

Keimarya Rivera led Oglethorpe with 24 points, six boards and three assists. Carly Henderson added nine points and two assists while Gabby Hudson recorded eight points, four boards and two assists in the loss.
