BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team defeated conference foe Berry in a high-scoring contest. BSC survived a late push after the Vikings cut the deficit from 23 points to one in the fourth quarter.
From the 7:06 mark in the third quarter to the 8:58 mark in the fourth quarter the Vikings went on a 29-7 run to cut the Panther 23 point lead down to just one. Although the momentum had swung to Berry, the Panthers stayed composed and never lost the lead. BSC and Berry would trade baskets for the remainder of the game with BSC never leading by more than two possessions. Three last second shots would not fall for the Vikings and the Panthers held on to defeat Berry 97-95.
Several players highlighted the stat sheet for the Panthers as BSC earned their eighth victory of the year. Five Panthers scored in double figures with
Montana Harris scoring 16 after returning from a one game absence.
Sameera Elmasri recorded her second double-figure performance in her last four games.
Faith Anderson,
Brooke Westhoelter and
McKenna Buckner were the other three Panthers to score in double figures.
Berry was led by Sydney Blakenship who dropped 35 while also recording eight rebounds. Kenadie Lee and Sylvia Kahoro each scored in double-figures in the loss.
