BIG WIN SENDS SENIORS OFF SMILING

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team got off a four-game skid with a 17-point victory over Hendrix College on Sunday, Feb. 12 in Bill Battle Coliseum. With the win the Panthers sent their two seniors, Alex Lewis and Brooke Westhoelter off with smiles as they wrapped up their second to last home game on the season.

The difference in the game was the first half. The Panthers led by 17 at halftime before the teams each scored 57 points over the course of the second half. An 11-point cushion after quarter one played a key role in the victory. 

Three of the Panthers five starters scored in double figures in the victory. Lilly Hart and Montana Harris each put up 14 points to led all Panther scorers. Harris was two rebounds shy of a double-double after grabbing eight boards. Brooke Westhoelter was the final of the three starters to score double-digit points with a 13-point performance. Westhoelter grabbed three boards and added four assists to her stat line. 

The Warriors were led by Simone Shields who shot 8-of-15 from the field scoring 22 points to lead all scorers. Shields grabbed five rebounds and had three steals in the loss. Madi Pierce scored 15 for Hendrix while grabbing seven boards in the contest. 

What it means
The Panthers remain tied for fifth in the standings and will finish fifth or sixth in the regular season standings and will be on the road for the SAA Tournament.

The Panthers will finish up the regular season with a home contest against Millsaps on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum.
