BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team opened the spring season with a 9-0 loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Friday afternoon at the Ann Dielen Tennis Complex.
MGCCC picked up the first three points of the match winning on all three doubles courts. Phoebe Shapard and Isabella Lambert lost a competitive 8-6 match. On court two Anna Beth Giles and Anna Cate Weeks lost 8-2 and the court three duo of Meg Griffin and Anna Marie Bentley lost 8-3.
In singles, BSC got swept by Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Panthers lost in straight sets on courts one, two, three, four, and six. Anna Cate Weeks won her first set before dropping the next two, losing the third set 7-6 (10-0 in the tiebreaker).
