BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The No. 16 Birmingham-Southern softball team lost in a tough matchup against No. 6 Belhaven on Wednesday at BSC Softball Park. The Panthers fell 4-3 in a close game to the Blazers.
Birmingham-Southern was first on the board in the bottom of the first, taking the lead 1-0.
Jordyn Green singled down the left field line to bring in
Izzy Berkopec.
Hailee Bryan started in the circle for the Panthers, not allowing a hit until the top of the fourth and saw a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the third.
Margaret Axelson came in to pitch in the top of the fourth. Belhaven put up two runs after an error from BSC scored two. The Blazers added another two runs on two hits and an error from BSC in the top of the fifth to extend the lead 4-1. An RBI single through the left side from Axelson in the bottom of the sixth added another run for the Panthers. An error from the Blazers added the final run for Birmingham-Southern and the Panthers were unable to comeback for a victory. #6 Belhaven took the win 4-3.
