MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Birmingham-Southern softball team added another conference sweep to their record as they finished off their series against Rhodes with two more wins on Saturday in Memphis, Tenn.
Game one: Birmingham-Southern was first on the board in the top of the first, taking the early lead with two runs on two hits. With runners on first and third,
Margaret Axelson grounded out to shortstop to bring in
Morgan McGuire.
Alyssa Fowler drew a two out walk to put her on first, then stealing second.
Emma Jolley hit an RBI single to bring in
Izzy Berkopec, Fowler was out on the play to end the inning.
Hailee Bryan saw three batters in the bottom of the first, striking out two. The Lynx added a run in the bottom of the second before
Margaret Axelson took over in the circle for the Panthers, striking out the final batter of the inning.
The top of the third was productive for Birmingham-Southern with five runs on three hits and an error from the Lynx.
Morgan McGuire started things off with a lead off walk, followed by a single through the left side from
Katie Hart.
Izzy Berkopec doubled to left field to bring in both Hart and McGuire, making it 4-1 for the Panthers. With bases loaded and two outs,
Lauren Cabiness came in to pitch hit for
Jordyn Green. Cabiness scored three on a double to left field, putting the Panthers up 7-1. BSC added three more runs on four hits, adding to their lead 10-1. The bottom of the fourth saw two runs on two hits for the Lynx. The Panthers held strong for the rest of the game, finishing it out with a victory of 10-3.

Game two: Once again the Panthers got things moving early on in game two with four runs on two hits, and two errors from the Lynx, putting BSC up 4-0 in the top of the first. The first run came from
Morgan McGuire scoring on a passed ball. The next came from a three-run homerun from
Alyssa Fowler that scored
Izzy Berkopec and
Katie Hart. Rhodes put up one run in the bottom of the first with two hits, but left three on base. The Panthers did not see another run until the top of the third with a double from
Leah Wood that scored
Emma Jolley, making it 5-1. Birmingham-Southern added two runs in each of the next three innings, to put the final score at 11-2.
