BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The rain delay did not slow the Panthers down as they got the bats going early vs. Oglethorpe.
BSC wasted no time catching fire as
Jackson Webster continued his great form at the plate with an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning.
Luke DePiero later tripled in the inning scoring two more runners and giving the Panthers a 3-0 lead early.
Oglethorpe got their first run on a sac fly in the top of the second inning, but BSC added on two more runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to a
Andrew Dutton double.
After a scoreless third inning, the Stormy Petrels scored two runs in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to two. However, this did not last long as RBIs from
Ian Hancock,
Jackson Webster, and
Luke DePiero stretched the BSC lead to 8-3 after four innings.
The Stormy Petrels were shut out for the rest of the game, while the Panthers continued their hot hitting. Dominant pitching from
Joey White (6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER) and
Ben Hoover (2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER) made things very difficult for Oglethorpe.
The Panthers scored one run each in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. A wild pitch in the fifth, a Wes Diamantis double, and
Jackson Webster's third double of the game stretched the lead to 11-3 heading into the eighth inning. After an RBI from
JT Weisberg to start the eighth,
Eli Steadman ended the game with an RBI single by making the score 13-3.
