MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Birmingham-Southern softball fell to the No. 1 seed Berry College in the first game of the championship series on Friday in Mount Berry, Ga. The Panthers fell 2-0 in an early lead from the Vikings and were unable to make the comeback.
The Vikings took the early lead in the bottom of the first, two batters were walked and a fielders choice made it bases loaded with only one out. A single to left field brought in the first run, but a fielding error allowed to second run in, putting Berry up 2-0. Neither team was able to add any additional runs after the first inning. Birmingham-Southern put up five hits to Berry's three, but two errors from the Panthers hurt them in the end. The Panthers look to bounce back in the championship series in their games on Saturday.
