PANTHERS START 3-0 IN CONFERENCE PLAY

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern volleyball team picked up two SAA wins to make them 3-0 in conference play. 

Game 1 vs. Rhodes
Birmingham-Southern set the tone for the match early in the first set, when the Panthers jumped to a 7-2 lead. The rest of the set was controlled by Southern' as they went on to win the first set 25-16.

Rhodes would continue to fight despite the first set loss with 23 and 20 points scored in the final two sets. 

Birmingham Southern had 20 more kills than Rhodes over the whole match. Kylie Wilhelmi and Gracie Sims topped all scorers with 10 and 9 kills each.

Southern' would go on to win the match in just three sets with a dominating performance at home. The Panthers have now won six straight sets.

Match point was a kill by junior Emily Buhl.

Game 2 vs. Hendrix
Set one and two were dominated by Birmingham-Southern with Hendrix only scoring 28 points in both sets.

The Panthers out-killed the Warriors 65-38 in a five set thriller. Kylie Wilhelmi dominated this whole match with 23 kills on her own. There were 24 blocks recorded in the entire match as both coaches tried to stop the big swings that were happening on Sunday. 

After getting a 2-0 set lead on the Warriors the panthers struggled to find any offense in the 3rd set. Hendrix outside hitter Camryn Presley and Middle Blocker Grace House really came alive in the 3rd set with 4 kills each. 

The 5th set would prove who the winner was by a 15-9 BSC decision. The start of the set was back and forth until two blocks in a row from Claire Hayes and Taylor Bentley. After that the Panthers went on a four point run to open up a 14-9 lead. 

Match point was an attacking error from Hendrix.
