BOOMING FIRST HALF GIVES PANTHERS 19-POINT WIN


Birmingham-Southern came into this game on a four game win streak and a win against Centre. The scoring started off the with a bucket by Brandon Garrido, who finished with 12 points and three assist. A 7-0 start by the Panthers was followed by an 8-0 run by the Tigers putting the score at 8-7. Ther tigers would never see the lead again as eight different scorers would help BSC to a 25-11 run in just eight minutes of game time. The lead would continue to rise to a game high of 19 just before halftime. Freshman, Kalib Thomas scored the last points of the half as the score ended at 45-26.

The second half started with a three ball by Luka Avaliani, who played some really tough baskets on Sunday. A three-point shot by Kaleb Green put the Panthers up by 23, which was the biggest lead of the game at 63-40. Green shot 3-6 from the three-point line as he finished with 13 points and six rebounds. The Tigers would bring the lead to as low as 13 points at the 6:44 mark, but would not get any closer. The Panthers finished with 74 points in four straight games. Birmingham-Southern dominating the rebound categories with 16 offensive rebounds vs 8 for Sewanee. A team effort led six Panther players to finish with more than 10 points. Jay Gillispie added another double-double with 14 points with 12 rebounds. The Panthers are now 3-1 in conference play and second in the SAA standings.
