BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern women's tennis team got their first win of the season on Saturday with a sweep of in-state rival Huntingdon.
Meg Griffin and
Anna Beth Giles earned the first doubles point for BSC by forfeit. No. 1 duo
Blakely Valdez and
Phoebe Shapard then dominated in their match with an 8-1 win to earn BSC their second point. No. 2 duo
Anna Cate Weeks and
Anna Marie Bentley then completed the doubles sweep after winning their match 8-2.
In singles, the Panthers only allowed eight games to Huntingdon.
Rici Stockl won her match by forfeit, and four matches were won with zeros on the board for Huntingdon including a sweep for
Anna Marie Bentley in the No. 2 position 6-0, 6-0. No. 1
Blakely Valdez won her match with only one game dropped while No. 5
Abbie Bateh only gave up two games to her opponent.
