BSC TALLIES 25 HITS IN TWO RUN-RULE WINS OVER COVENANT

The Panther offense made a statement early in Game 1 with three straight singles by Katie Hart, Emma Jolley, and Moe McGuire loading up the bases for Bella Furgason. Furgason delivered a first pitch 2 RBI single to right field, scoring both Hart and Jolley. Furgason plated another run for BSC by scoring on a passed ball, giving the Panthers a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

Natalie Snow, game 1 starter in the circle, was untouched through the first 2 innings, allowing no hits and earning 3 strikeouts.

In the bottom of the second, freshman Mollie Furr singled to right field, giving an RBI opportunity at the top of the order for Katie Hart. The Scott's starting pitching made a throwing error on a ball hit by Hart, scoring Furr and giving Hart the opportunity to speed around the bases and earn another run herself. After one trip through the order, the Panthers earned a 5 run lead.

Emma Jolley singled up the middle, stole second base, and then advanced to third on a right side ground ball by Moe McGuire. Bella Furgason picked up her second hit and third RBI of the day with a single up the middle to score Jolley.

The Scotts found momentum in the top of the third, as Jaycie Lyles walked and center fielder Mary Elaine Mitchell got their first hit of the day with a single through the ? hole. A Panther error in the outfield allowed Lyles to score an unearned run and Mitchell to reach third. Pitcher Natalie Snow responded with a strikeout and infield pop up to strand Lyles and keep a 6-1 lead for BSC.

Senior Leah Wood led off the bottom of the third with an infield single, bringing Jaley Davis to the plate who reached on Scott's error. Mollie Furr picked up her first RBI of the match up on a SAC bunt attempt that resulted in Covenant's 3rd error of the match up and an unearned run scored by Leah Wood. Sophomore Emma Jolley came to the plate with a 7-1 lead, 1 outs, and two runners on. Jolley put a ball up the middle causing another error by the starting Scott's pitcher scoring Jaley Davis. Emma Jolley stole second, creating chaos for the defense and another throwing error for the Scotts and scoring both herself and Mollie Furr. The Panthers had a 9 run lead through just 8 outs of play.

A 1-out single by Moe McGuire and 2-out single by Natalie Snow brought Olivia Trout up to the plate with an RBI opportunity where she delivered her first hit of the day. Trout's 2 RBI single to right-center gave BSC a 12-1 lead through 3 innings.

BSC right hander Natalie Snow shut down the Scott's offense, allowing 0 earned runs, 2 hits, and picked up her third win of the season with a final score of 12-1.

Game #2: Lefty sophomore pitcher Olivia Trout got the Panther start in the circle for game 2. In similar fashion to the start of game 1, Katie Hart and Emma Joley reached safely via hit and walk. Katie Hart advanced and scored via wild pitch and passed ball giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead and Natalie Snow RBI opportunity. Snow's 2-out RBI single to right field gave BSC a 2-0 lead. Back to back singles by Leah Wood and Maile White brought third baseman Jaley Davis to the plate with bases loaded where she delivered a 2-out 2-RBI single to left center. BSC went through the order and took a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, Moe McGuire got things started with a lead-off walk, followed by Bella Furgason's 4th hit of the day to left center. Natalie Snow delivered her 3rd RBI of Game 2 with a single to left field, scoring McGuire and giving the Panther's a 5-0 lead.

The scoreboard was quiet for Covenant as Olivia Trout dealt 5 strikeouts, zero runs, and just one hit through five innings.

Jaley Davis led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a first pitch double off the left field wall, followed by Mollie Furr's reach on error. A stolen base by Furr put runners on second and third for Katie Hart. Hart forced an error by the Covenant shortstop, scoring both Davis and Furr. Jolley came to the plate and capitalized on the walk off opportunity with a single up the middle giving the Panthers an 8-0 victory.
