BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team stayed hot with their third consecutive conference match win on Sunday.
The Panthers started the day taking two out of three doubles matches, but each match was a tough battle. No. 2 duo
Hallet Green and
Sam Tolbert got the first point of the day for the Panthers in an 8-5 match before No. 3 pair
Ryan King and
Eli Ingleson narrowly avoided the tiebreak with an 8-6 win. BSC hoped to complete the sweep, but Rhodes kept the points within one after a tiebreaker 8-7 win in the final doubles match.
After coming up just short of a sweep in doubles, the Panthers took care of each singles match. Six out of six matches went to BSC including a very exciting contest in the No. 2 position. BSC's
Sam Tolbert won the first set 6-4 before falling 7-5 in set two. In the third and final set, Tolbert couldn't quite clinch the win until the 15th point to give him a long and tiring match win. No. 1
Hallet Green was also excellent on the day with a comfortable 6-2, 6-1 win to highlight BSC's 8-1 win at home over Rhodes.
