BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team won their 11th doubles match in their last four matches as a team on Friday against Oglethorpe. The Panthers took home a 5-0 win after the teams agreed to play to a decision due to possible weather.
After rescheduling the match due to possible rain on Sunday, both teams agreed to play to a decision on Friday. In doubles, No. 1 duo
Tanner DeBardelaben and
Tom Smith bounced back with an 8-6 victory to get BSC their first point of the day. No. 2 duo
Hallet Green and
Sam Tolbert then played a very close match and went to a tiebreaker. The pair then dominated the tiebreaker 7-0 to give the Panthers their second point and doubles series win. No. 3 doubles team
Ryan King and
Eli Ingleson then completed the sweep with an 8-6 win.
Needing only two wins to win on the day, No. 3
Ryan King won 6-0, 6-4 for his fourth consecutive win to put BSC within a point of their fifth conference win. No. 6
Eli Ingleson then clinched the win on the afternoon with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 triumph to complete the sweep 5-0 and advance to 5-1 in SAA play.
