Cantu is a 2021 graduate of North Park University where he earned a degree in Physical Education. He was a named All-CCIW in 2017 and earned ABCA/Rawlings Division III Gold Glove recognition in 2019.

Cantu finished his career hitting .296 recording 168 hits and stealing 50 bases. In the outfield he recorded .997 fielding percentage recording just one error over his four year career. 

Cantu is a native of Rockford, Ill.
